Say good night, Rudy

Could this be the first chink (okay, actually the 5th or 6th chink) in the impenetrable armor of Rudy Giuliani?

Rudy had an interview with Glenn Beck recently.  Here’s an excerpt:

GLENN: Right. But isn’t illegal immigration a crime in and of itself?

GIULIANI: No.

GLENN: Aren’t you saying –

GIULIANI: Glenn –

GLENN: You’re protecting criminals by saying that being treated as a criminal is unfair.

GIULIANI: Glenn, it’s not a crime. I know that’s very hard for people to understand, but it’s not a federal crime.

GLENN: It’s a misdemeanor but if you’ve been nailed, it is a crime. If you’ve been nailed, ship back and come back, it is a crime.

GIULIANI: Glenn, being an illegal immigrant, the 400,000 were not prosecuted for crimes by the federal government, nor could they be. I was U.S. attorney in the southern district of New York. So believe me, I know this. In fact, when you throw an immigrant out of the country, it’s not a criminal proceeding. It’s a civil proceeding.

GLENN: Is it –

GIULIANI: One of the things that congress wanted to do a year ago is to make it a crime, which indicates that it isn’t.

GLENN: Should it be?

GIULIANI: Should it be? No, it shouldn’t be because the government wouldn’t be able to prosecute it. We couldn’t prosecute 12 million people. We have only 2 million people in jail right now for all the crimes that are committed in the country, 2.5 million. If you were to make it a crime, you would have to take the resources of the criminal justice system and increase it by about 6. In other words, you’d have to take all the 800,000 police, and who knows how many police we would have to have.

GLENN: So what’s your solution?

GIULIANI: My solution is close the border to illegal immigration.

There you have it.  Soft on illegal immigration.  Wants to close the border (good!) but not do anything about this ones who are already here.

Terrorist plot foiled

Despite what liberal/socialist Europe and Michael Moore may say, terrorism remains a threat, as we find out today.

Police have smashed a suspected al Qaeda terror cell nursing a “profound hatred of US citizens” plotting to bomb civilian and military jets.

The force of the planned explosions would have been worse than the train bombings in Madrid and the Tube and bus attacks in London on 7 July, 2005, according to German security sources. Those attacks killed 191 and 52 people respectively.

Three men aged 22, 28 and 29 have been arrested in Germany days before they planned to strike, and bomb-making equipment and explosives have been seized.

Fred’s in

No surprise to anyone, Fred Thompson’s running for President.  Will he get anywhere?

At 7:57 p.m. Eastern time Wednesday, while taping “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” for broadcast later in the evening, Fred Thompson finally said: “I’m running for president of the United States.”

The studio audience responded with thunderous applause.

Bad news for Democrats

Wow…as we all know, good news in Iraq is bad news for Democrats and for their mouthpiece the MSM.

From the perky one:

“We hear so much about things going bad, but real progress has been made there in terms of security and stability,” Couric said Tuesday. “I mean, obviously, infrastructure problems abound, but Sunnis and U.S. forces are working together. They banded together because they had a common enemy: al Qaeda.”

Countdown until the MSM kicks into high gear to clarify or downplay what the perky one had to say…5…4…3…2…1…

Wait! I might not resign!

So now Larry Craig may not resign after all:

Sen. Larry Craig is reconsidering his decision to resign after his arrest in a Minnesota airport sex sting and may still fight for his Senate seat, his spokesman said Tuesday evening. “It’s not such a foregone conclusion anymore, that the only thing he could do was resign,” Sidney Smith, Craig’s spokesman in Idaho’s capital, told The Associated Press.

“We’re still preparing as if Senator Craig will resign Sept. 30, but the outcome of the legal case in Minnesota and the ethics investigation will have an impact on whether we’re able to stay in the fight—and stay in the Senate,” Smith said.

I still say he’s discredited himself.  Should have stared this thing in the face from the get go.

Edwards to force doctor visits

John Edwards socialized medical plan would force doctor visits…you have to go to the doctor for “preventative” care or else you’re out of the system!

“The whole idea is a continuum of care, basically from birth to death,” he said.

If that statement doesn’t scare you, you don’t have your brain plugged in.

Craig to Resign

Larry Craig will be resigning from the Senate tomorrow.  Yes, it’s probably right, because he’s destroyed himself by pleading guilty.  He could have done things differently back then and kept it from ballooning as it did, but he didn’t.

Still, I would love to see the MSM aggressively go after the Clintons’ connection to Red China, Kennedy, Barney Frank, William Jefferson, and the list goes on.

Continued MSM double-standard

Did ya hear about Larry Craig?  He’s a Republican Senator who solicited for hanky-panky in an airport restroom and got arrested.  It’s a slow week for news, so it’s suddenly a huge story.  Of course, Ted Kennedy, Barney Frank, and William Jefferson have received minimal news coverage for their escapades, but they’re on the correct side of the aisle.  Craig, naturally, should resign, because he’s a Republican and he did something questionable.

I say, he ought to just jump to the Democrat party.  They have to accept him and what he does, because they’re the party of tolerance and acceptance!

Arellano blaming the victim

Here’s a brilliant video clip of Elvira Arellano, erstwhile sactuary-seeker, illegal immigrant, and felon, explaining why it’s the United States’ fault, that the USA “broke the law first” by “letting people” enter the country without documents.  That, my friends, is called blaming the victim.  Typically it’s not allowed in a world where everyone is a victim.  Enjoy.

She wasn’t knocking Hillary

Obama’s wife, Mrs. Obama, made a comment a couple of days ago which the punditry (particularly the evil right wing new media) took as a slam at Clinton. She said, “if you can’t run your own house, you have no business running the white house.”  Of course, this is a clear slam against Mrs. Clinton’s inability to manage a household in which her husband is expected to at least have the decency to have his trysts elsewhere.  But,

Presidential hopeful Barack Obama said Wednesday his wife was not taking a swipe at Hillary Rodham Clinton when she said, “If you can’t run your own house, you can’t run the White House.”

“The whole thing about Hillary has been completely fabricated,” Obama added. “You guys have got to get it off your minds.”
